Final Project Proposal
For my final project, I would like to build an self-guided tour for the WIU Malpass Library. I would like to use the geo-location based web application called Scvngr. This application allows students to earn badges based on a trek, which I will create. I would also like to eventually implement some QR code interactivity for the self guided tour for the library. This self-guided tour will help incoming freshman become familiar with the library and everything it has to offer. This application works on both Android and iOS devices. The library has ipads available to checkout, which will have the software pre-loaded.

I have never used Scvngr before, so I will be interested to see how you incorporate this tool into your final project.
ReplyDeleteJustin, I love this idea! And I'd love to use this in my U100 class when you are done. I think students are so intimidated by the library when they first get here, and often times stay away because of that. I mean, it is six full floors! I have taught U100 online before and have used the 3D tour on the library website (that was a student project) as an assignment for my class. This way they are familiar with where everything is located right away so they are more comfortable visiting the library and utilizing all of the great resources you guys have to offer. I like the idea of the Scvngr app too. I didn't realize there were badges to earn, which to me sounds like so much fun! I agree our projects are similar. I decided to go with facebook check-in, but only because I know the bulk of my students are already comfortable using facebook. At any rate, I look forward to seeing how your project progresses!
